| In the first version of Richard Dawkins book the greatest show on earth the super collider is typ-o'ed as "the large hardon collider" (hadron collinder). Maybe add that as a subtitle to the forum banner? _________________ Self-quotes: Great minds think alike. Greater minds think for themselves.

no kidding. since personally i differentiate between aesthetics and inspiration where communications is concerned, i need to say that globally, the shrinking numbers of academically trained middle classes will most appreciate this type of expression on behalf of their own concerns. meanwhile.
l'art pour l'art, as the leftover conscience for saturated minds that cannot translate the inspiration into their everyday living conditions anymore? |

| Granted, the old keep on truckers are fewer nowadays but far more radical in their elusive but radical attitude and leave the educating today to the quasi truckers. Maybe an R. Crumb thread is in order here on this forum. This forum has some real oldtime radical thinkers from the '60's onward that understand R. Crumb's concepts. Sounds like fun. |

I do not know how old you are lo but the true 60's revolution centered around peace, love, dope and radical college students who were sick and tired of how and where the world and in particular the U.S.A. was heading. Those days are long gone now, the radical college students were right because peace, love, dope has been replaced by fear, greed, and suspicion. Quite a bit of difference |

peace, love, dope.... and booming?
it was a bit heavier elsewhere, with thought not so much centering but venturing out into settling generations and gender issues, the old imperialist politics and nation building after 2 (lost) world wars. that the kids for whom all this better world was supposed to be established, now drive consumerism beyond the brink of existence, is a bitter irony. fear, greed, suspicion? boredom, ignorance, and no limits to permissiveness, imho. my contribution to retro-entertainment..

Make this forum a little brighter, more colour. Dissident philosophy may sometimes be dark - but does not always have to be dark. Why should we insist solely on the darkness?
Can we get some different colours here? Other than Grey? Even a little red and black perhaps?
I am not a good artist - but if I have time and can make anything, I will give it.
I am just a pitifully anonymous little man in a big world. I have no political power, no significant office of influence. This is all I can do. There are no other avenues for me that I am aware.
I endeavour to make the world much more interesting, and battle against puritan chauvinism in all guises. I despise bourgeois morality, bigotry and repression. I despise repression of sexuality and all pleasures - this is all I can do.
No philosopher can be dispassionate in entirety, but by dint of irony, he must be dispassionate to the point of cynicism just to speak a single sentence lest it will have no chance whatsoever of acquiring political scope and practical application. |
It has been pointed out by someone, recently, somewhere that the Puritans came to this continent (N.A.) not to seek religious freedom, but to be able to establish a very strict religious regime, without any opposition. This has had a lasting effect on the whole world, and this is apparent now even more so than in the preceding decades. |

| P.S. The lack of colour, i.e. black could easily pass for Puritanism....... ... .......
How about we change it to violet-mauve, or purple-blue... or even grey with a tinge of iridescent orange.
You can view this forum in any color you like, as long as it's black! |
